Tax repealed!
Only the rich have phones. Well, that was true in 1898. A tax was imposed on telephone use to help fund the Spanish American war. The war ended, phones became more common, but the tax still hung around. Now the long-distance portion of the tax is finally going away.
This is a good example of how when politicians talk about taxing "the rich", the taxes often affect almost everyone. Another example is the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).
